A Fairfax Station property: guards on the house, new gutters on the pool house
This job in 22039 covered a house with an attached garage, plus a pool house. On the main house and garage the existing gutters stayed: the crew cleaned them out and installed Englert MicroGuard sized for 6-inch gutters. The pool house had no gutters on either side, so it got new 6-inch seamless K-style gutters in white with two 3×4 downspouts, one on each side at the back.
Two smaller fixes went on the same contract. Above the garage on the right side of the house, a short run of gutter was replaced and a new downspout was added that runs down the roofline into the lower downspout. On the downspout at the far left of the house, a cleanout was installed.

Can you put gutter guards on gutters I already have?
Yes, if the gutters are sound and pitched correctly. That is how the main house and garage on this Fairfax Station job were handled: the existing gutters were cleaned out first, then MicroGuard went on top. Our contracts note that when we install leaf protection only, we clean the gutters before the guards go on. If a run is sagging, leaking at the seams or pulling off the fascia, we will quote new gutters for that run.
What is a downspout cleanout?
A section near the bottom of a 3×4 downspout that opens, so leaves stuck low in the pipe can be cleared without taking the downspout apart. It is an add-on for oversize 3×4 downspouts. The Fairfax Station job above added one to the downspout at the far left of the house.
If I keep my gutters, is the clog-free warranty included?
Not on its own. The 10-year clog-free coverage is sold as a package: MicroGuard plus new 5-inch or 6-inch gutters plus 3×4 downspouts. Guards installed on existing gutters still carry Englert’s lifetime warranty on the guard itself, and any new gutters carry the 20-year manufacturer material warranty. Guard options: MicroGuard or E-Z Lock.
Will a Fairfax Station HOA need to sign off?
It depends on the community. We supply the product data sheets and manufacturer color names. We work closely with the committees, we have a great relationship with plenty of HOAs, and it has never been a problem for us.
Fairfax Station gutter questions
Do you put gutters on pool houses and other outbuildings?
Yes. On the Fairfax Station job on this page, the pool house got new 6-inch gutters and two 3×4 downspouts on the same contract as the main house.
Where do upper-roof downspouts go?
One option is down the roofline into a lower downspout, as one does above the garage on this Fairfax Station house. Routing is decided with you at the estimate.
Do you install underground drain lines?
No. Sunshine Contracting does not do trenching or water management through corrugated pipe.
