How much does a new front door cost in Burke?
Plan on $1,800–$5,500 installed for a front door and $2,500–$6,500 for a back slider or French pair. We quote those ranges across Northern Virginia, Burke included, and price anything unusual separately.
What moves a front door around that range: steel or fiberglass, the glass (clear, or decorative glass with caming), whether sidelites or a transom are part of it, and how much of the trim around the door is being rebuilt. Those are the common jobs, not the only ones; reach out about anything else. More detail is in our door replacement cost guide.
A Burke front door, rear slider and shutters
This Burke homeowner replaced the front door and the rear sliding door at once. The front got a ProVia Legacy steel door with Eclipse decorative glass, and the back got a ProVia Endure two-panel sliding door. At the front, the old wood pilasters on either side of the door were replaced with flat trim board, then the jamb and the entire surround, pilasters and crosshead, were capped in a color matched to the door frame. The rear slider got white capping outside. Six sets of new louvered vinyl shutters in Midnight Green went across the front as part of the same project.
After signing, the front door color changed. That went through a signed addendum with an updated spec sheet, and every other term stayed the same.

Should the trim around my front door be replaced too?
If it is worn or soft, the door job is the time to do it. The bottoms of wood pilasters sit on or near the stoop, where rain splash and snow collect, and on an older house that is a common place for rot to start. On the Burke door above, the pilasters came off and flat trim board went in, then everything around the door was capped so there is no bare wood left to paint. Any trim work is listed on the contract before we start.
Steel or fiberglass for a Burke front door?
Either works; it comes down to budget and finish. Steel usually costs less and takes a smooth painted finish, which is what this Burke house chose, pairing a ProVia Legacy door with decorative glass. Fiberglass is the more popular pick with our customers and can be stained or painted. At the estimate we go over both, with ProVia styles and glass, so you can compare them against your siding and shutters. Browse styles on our entry doors page.
Can shutters be replaced at the same time as the doors?
Yes. On this Burke house the old shutters came down and were hauled away as part of the same project. We measured the existing shutters and ordered the closest size match, so the new set fits the same spots. Doing them together means you choose the door, trim and shutter colors side by side.
Do Burke HOAs review new doors?
Often, yes, when the color or style changes. Burke Centre’s Architectural Review Board and other Burke associations look at exterior changes, so a new door color or new shutters are worth running past your committee before you order. We supply the product data sheets and manufacturer color names for the application. We work closely with the committees, we have a great relationship with plenty of HOAs, and it has never been a problem for us.
Burke door FAQs
Can I change my door color after I sign?
Often, as long as the door has not been ordered. The change goes on a signed addendum with an updated spec sheet, as it did for the Burke front door on this page, and any price difference is spelled out on it.
Will my lockset and deadbolt use the same key?
They can. ProVia hardware can be ordered keyed alike, as it was on this Burke front door. If you want other doors on the same key, ask at the estimate so they are ordered together.
Will the new trim need painting?
The inside casing does. It arrives primed, and painting it is up to you or your painter, because we do not paint. Outside, the capped surround needs no paint.
