James Hardie Siding and GAF Roof Replacement in Burke, VA
One exterior project on a two-story Burke home: new fiber cement siding and trim and a new architectural shingle roof, installed by our own crews.
The home and the scope
This two-story home in Burke, in Fairfax County, had light vinyl lap siding with dark trim and an aging shingle roof. The project replaced all of it at once: the siding, the trim and the roof.
When the roof, the siding and the trim are replaced together, the flashing and the trim are fitted to each other once, and there is one company accountable for the whole exterior.

What we installed
- Siding: James Hardie Cedarmill lap siding, a fiber cement plank with a wood-grain texture, in the color Deep Ocean.
- Trim: new white trim at the corners, the rooflines and around the windows and doors.
- Roof: GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles in Charcoal.
The work was done by our own crews. We are a James Hardie Elite Preferred contractor and a GAF Master Elite roofing contractor. James Hardie siding carries a 30-year material warranty and a 15-year color and technology warranty, and our workmanship warranty on siding and trim is 10 years. See our warranties and the GAF roof warranties guide for the roof coverage options.
What to look at in these photos
Look at the corners, the rake boards along the roofline and the trim around each window. The lap siding runs in even courses across the front, and the white trim frames every window, corner and eave. Those details are where a siding job is won or lost.
