Each patio door, slider or French, typically runs $2,500 to $6,500 put in; a front door is usually $1,800 to $5,500. Custom sizing, non-stock or specialty glass, grids and replacing the frame and outside trim push a patio door up. Other styles and options are available, so reach out if you don’t see what you want. A Great Falls house: two French doors traded for two sliders
This 22066 household has also had James Hardie siding and new windows from us. At the back of the house were two French doors, one near the fireplace and one near the kitchen. The contract removed both completely, with their frames, thresholds, casing and moldings, and hauled them away.
Two ProVia Aspect sliding doors went in, built to the exact openings. They are mirror images: seen from outside, the fireplace door’s left panel slides and the kitchen door’s right panel slides. Each is all white, with tempered ComforTech glass with white single-prairie flat grids. A multi-point handle and a separate foot lock secure the moving panel, and a BetterVue screen hangs from the top track. On the outside, each opening got fresh brickmold wrapped in Glacier White coil.

French doors or a sliding door?
A French pair swings open wide but needs clear floor space for the doors to swing. A slider stays in its own track, which leaves the floor in front of it free for furniture. The Great Falls homeowners above replaced two French doors with sliders. If you are torn, we can price both at the estimate; see the options on our patio door page.
Which side of a sliding door should open?
The side you walk through most. We pin down the handing, meaning which panel moves, while measuring, because handing is set on the ProVia order. The two Great Falls sliders above were ordered as opposite hands, one left-operating and one right-operating, as ProVia reads it from outside looking in.
Will a Great Falls HOA need to see the doors?
Many Great Falls lots have no HOA at all, but some subdivisions do, and their rules can cover exterior colors and door styles. Check before you order if yours has one. We supply the product data sheets and manufacturer color names. We work closely with the committees, we have a great relationship with plenty of HOAs, and it has never been a problem for us.
Asked in Great Falls
My old French doors are an odd size. Can a slider fit?
Yes. Both ProVia Aspect sliders on this Great Falls job were ordered to custom exact sizes to fit the openings left by the old French doors.
Can glass choices change the wait for a door?
Sometimes. ProVia’s order for these Great Falls doors noted that non-stock tempered glass adds lead time.
What does a foot lock add to a patio slider?
A second point of locking near the floor, independent of the handle. Both Great Falls sliders on this page have one, in white.
