How much do new gutters cost in Oakton?
Plan on $2,000–$6,000 installed for a whole-house seamless system. Where an Oakton house falls in that range comes down to four things: how much roofline it has, 5-inch or 6-inch gutters, 2×3 or 3×4 downspouts, and whether guards go on top. Oversize everything plus guards on a big colonial puts you near the top; a rambler with standard sizes sits near the bottom. These are the common setups, not the only ones; if you want something different, ask and we will price it. Other sizes, colors and guard options are available, so reach out if you don’t see what you want.
Rotted fascia is the one cost that can move. Your contract sets a per-foot rate for replacing soft boards with primed board, so you know that price before any old gutter comes down. The gutter replacement cost guide has the full breakdown.
An Oakton colonial: new siding, trim and 6-inch gutters
This two-story Oakton colonial got siding, trim and gutters from us on one contract: new vinyl siding, PVC trim around most of the windows, aluminum capping over the fascia and rake boards, and a new gutter system to finish it. The house already had gutter guards, and the new gutters got new screen guards, fastened to the front lip of the gutter and tucked under the first row of shingles.
One detail from the work order: the downspout on the back of the garage was moved from the left side of that wall to the right. Replacing gutters is the easiest time to put a downspout where you actually want it.

Why do so many Oakton homes need 6-inch gutters?
Because of the roof and the trees together. A two-story colonial has long roof planes that send a lot of water to each run, and the big oaks on Oakton’s wooded lots drop leaves straight into it. A 6-inch gutter holds more water before it spills, and a 3×4 downspout has roughly twice the opening of a standard 2×3, so leaves that reach the outlet are less likely to plug the elbow.
Not every house needs the upgrade. A single-story addition or a garage roof can do fine with 5-inch gutters and 2×3 downspouts. We size each run to the roof above it; the seamless gutters page has the profiles and colors.
Can you move a downspout when you replace the gutters?
Yes, and new gutters are the right moment to do it. Every outlet is cut fresh, so a downspout can come down on whichever side of a wall makes more sense: clear of the front walk, off the deck stairs, or over toward ground that slopes away from the house. Point out the downspouts that bother you when we come out, and the new layout starts there. More on sizing: downspouts and extensions.
Which gutter guards hold up under Oakton’s oaks?
Match the guard to the canopy. Where the trees are a little way off the roof, an E-Z Lock steel screen stops whole oak leaves, though it needs brushing off now and then. Where branches hang right over the shingles and drop pollen, seed pods and grit, Englert MicroGuard is the stronger choice, and on new 5- or 6-inch gutters with 3×4 downspouts it comes with our 10-year clog-free warranty. Both are laid out side by side under gutter guards.
Do Oakton HOAs review gutter changes?
Some do. Parts of Oakton sit inside HOAs with architectural review, and plenty of lots have no HOA at all. A same-color replacement rarely draws questions; a new color or guards visible from the street can. We supply the product data sheets and manufacturer color names for the application. We work closely with the committees, we have a great relationship with plenty of HOAs, and it has never been a problem for us.
Oakton gutter FAQs
Should I replace gutters at the same time as siding?
If both are due, yes. The gutters hang on the fascia, so capping or replacing the fascia and then hanging new gutters on it happens in one visit instead of taking the gutters down twice.
What if the fascia behind my gutters is rotten?
We replace soft sections with primed board before the new gutters go up. The contract lists a per-foot rate, and we only replace the boards that need it.
Can white gutters match new white trim?
Yes. White is one of our standard gutter colors, and on this Oakton job white gutters went up against the new white window trim.
