French door installation and replacement in Northern Virginia

Sunshine Contracting replaces and installs exterior French doors, including Therma-Tru French doors, on homes across Fairfax, Prince William, Loudoun, Arlington and Stafford counties and nearby Maryland. We come out, measure your opening, help you pick the style, glass and finish, and give you a firm written price.

What does French door replacement cost in Northern Virginia?

French doors fall in our patio door range, which runs $2,500 to $6,500 installed. French doors, larger openings, upgraded glass and fiberglass or wood-grain construction sit toward the top of that range. We measure your opening at a free estimate and give you a firm written price. For the full breakdown, see what door replacement costs in Northern Virginia.

How long does French door installation take?

Installation is typically one day. The wait is in the build: French doors are made to order for your opening, so plan on about four to six weeks between your signed contract and install day. We replace one opening at a time, so your home is never left standing open.

French doors or a sliding patio door?

French doors open on hinges, and both panels open, so you get a wide, clear opening to the patio or deck. Because they swing, they need clear floor space where the doors open. A sliding door opens without swinging into the room or out onto the deck, so it is the usual pick where space is tight. We install both and will tell you which fits your opening. See our patio doors for sliding options.

Steel or fiberglass French doors?

Steel is the value choice: strong, secure and the least expensive way to get a solid new door. Fiberglass costs more and handles Northern Virginia’s humidity swings without warping, rusting or needing constant paint. If you want the look of wood, Therma-Tru’s fiberglass oak and mahogany finishes give you the grain without wood’s upkeep. The Therma-Tru lines we install are listed below.

What warranty comes with new French doors?

Every door we install carries our lifetime workmanship warranty, and the door itself is covered by its manufacturer. Details are on our door warranties page.

Do you repair French doors?

No. Sunshine Contracting is a replacement company. We do not take repair-only jobs, except warranty service on doors we installed.

Live in a neighborhood with an HOA? We work closely with the committees, have a great relationship with plenty of HOAs all over Northern Virginia and Maryland, and it has never been a problem. We supply the data sheets for the door you choose.

Exterior, Interior and Custom French Doors

Exterior, Interior and Custom French Doors - Sunshine Contracting - Sunshine Contracting

French doors are similar to a hinged patio door, with the difference being that with French doors both panels are operable, with hinged patio doors only one panel is operable. French doors can contain a large amount of glass and can provide plenty of natural light if positioned near a wall leading to the outside or provide a view of another room. Some homeowners add special touches to their French doors such as brass door handles and hinges.

Sunshine Contracting and our door installation crew have been trained and certified by ProVIa for the proper installation of their products. A representative from ProVia specifically trained our installers to install the doors to manufacturer specifications to ensure that you are getting the best possible door and installation process as possible. The correct installation of a door is extremely important to maintaining its long life, as well as its warranty.

Our Door Process

When you contact Sunshine Contracting to set up your free in-home consultation, our office will work together with you to find a time convenient for you for our Project Consultant to meet with you at your home. At the consultation, we will discuss your vision for your doors. After getting a strong understanding of your wants and needs for your home, our consultant will take measurements in order to provide you with an accurate estimate. When you decide to replace the windows on your home, there are many different options for you to choose from. It can be overwhelming for a homeowner, so we strive to give you as much information as possible and help guide you along the process to make it as easy and stress free as possible for you. Once you decide to move forward with Sunshine Contracting for your door replacement, your Project Manager will give you a call and introduce themselves to you, as well as let you know of the next steps. This includes having one of our crew chiefs coordinate a time to meet with you for a more exact measurement of your windows for ordering purposes. The doors are ordered first and once the doors have arrived, we will call you to schedule an installation date. Depending on the size of the job, window jobs, on average, take about 1-3 days to complete. When the job is complete, we will pick up and dispose of all trash and debris and leave you with a beautiful new exterior!

Our Door Crews

Our window crews are trained and certified and take pride in the work they do! Feel free to ask any of our crew chief’s (Daniel and Saul) any questions you may have while on the job. Lee, Santos and their crews have worked for Sunshine Contracting for over 12 years! In our opinion, they are the hardest working crews in the industry, often working from sunrise to sunset during the summer hours.
