Community Involvement

The Arthritis Foundation supports the more than 100 types of arthritis and related conditions in existence. As the largest not-for-profit contributor to arthritis research, the foundation provides public health education, pursues public policy and legislation, and helps to improve the lives of those living with arthritis. Sunshine Contracting Corporation is an annual donor to this foundation.

Habitat for Humanity has been working to build and remodel homes for those in need for 34 years and has built more than 400,000 homes sheltering more than 2 million people in more than 5 continents worldwide. Sunshine Contracting Corporation has partnered with roofing manufacturer GAF and Habitat for Humanity to donate labor on roofing projects around the community. As a local partner, Habitat for Humanity alerts us as to when there are projects in the area needing roofing volunteers. We then go out to the job site and donate all our time and labor to help the residents re-roof their home. Sunshine Contracting donates four to six jobs a year to the Habitat for Humanity & GAF. This is just one of the many ways Sunshine Contracting Corporation strives to give back to its community.

The American Heart Association works to promote lives free of cardiovascular and stroke issues in both men and women. Many people don’t know that heart disease is the leading cause of death in women. Through a variety of arenas and with the help of thousands of volunteers across the country, the American Heart Association is one of the leading organizations behind the cardiovascular research front. Toys for Tots was funding by the United States Marine Corps with the purpose of collecting toys for disadvantaged families and distributing them around Christmas time in order to spread a sense of hope to the less fortunate. It is their hope that this gesture will help inspire these children to grow up and become responsible, productive, and patriotic citizens. The Make A Wish Foundation was created in 1980 with a mission of making life-changing impacts on the lives of children who have been diagnosed with life threatening medical conditions. By granting these children their wishes, the Make A Wish Foundation is able to rekindle the fire and passion for life that these children have and give them bright hope for their future. The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in the world for Alzheimer’s care and support. The association advocates globally, nationally, and locally to improve care and support as well as drive research to help find a cure and improve prevention and treatment. Susan G. Komen for the Cure, founded in 1982, is the world’s leading breast cancer organization. Through a vast network of survivors and activists, Susan G. Komen hosts a variety of fundraising activities that helps bring us one step closer to finding a cure for breast cancer. The National MS Society is united in their collective power to do something about MS now and end this disease forever. Their mission is to mobilize people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. The American Cancer Society is a health organization with a mission of eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Through research, advocacy, education, and service, the society works with other cancer related organizations around the globe, as well as thousands of volunteers, to help diminish suffering from cancer. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital focuses on pediatric catastrophic diseases and how to prevent and enhance treatment for them. The hospital continues to grow and is currently expanding their International Outreach and Domestic Affiliate programs. Special Olympics is an organization that, through sports, strives to help children and adults with intellectual disabilities find success, joy, and friendship. Founded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the organization hosts a variety of sporting events throughout the country year round to give participants the opportunity to grow physically, demonstrate courage, forge new friendships, and share gifts and skills. The mission of Foundation Fighting Blindness is to help bring awareness to, as well as to help drive research that will one day find a cure for those affected with the entire spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases. Guiding Eyes for the Blind is a member of the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) dedicated to helping create life-changing relationships between people and guide dogs. The dogs help support the blind and visually impaired to give them independence and new opportunities in their day to day lives.
