Alside Glass Packages

ClimaTech TG2 Insulated Glass Package

ClimaTech TG2 Insulated Glass Package – this is a triple-glazed insulated glass package with multi-layer, low-E (emissivity) glass, and argon gas, which increases insulating capabilities. Argon gas is denser than air and helps minimize the convection currents within the space and reduces conduction and transfer of heat. Argon gas is colorless, odorless and safe and helps improve the thermal performance of the window. Argon gas insulates approximately 150% better than a unit filled with regular air. The TG2 Climatech Insulated Glass Package contains two panes of multi-layer, low-E glass that outperforms the standard clear unit by as much as 315%.

ClimaTech TK2 Insulated Glass Package

this is a triple-glazed insulated glass package with multi-layer, low-E glass, and the increased insulating capabilities of krypton gas. Krypton gas is more than 3 times denser than air and more than 2 times denser than argon gas. Also a colorless, odorless, and safe gas, Kyrpton insulates nearly 210% better than a unit filled with argon gas. In addition, the ClimaTech TK2 glass unit will outperform the standard clear unit by nearly 500% when it comes to U-factors and R-values.

ENERGY-EFFICIENT GLASS PACKAGES:
THE WINDOW UPGRADE THAT MAY PAY FOR ITSELF IN ENERGY SAVINGS.

As energy costs continue to skyrocket across the country – gas, electric and heating oil alike – you may be looking for ways to maximize the energy-efficiency of your home during your remodel or new construction project.Look no further than Alside’s state-of-the-art, energy-efficient glass packages. Available on all of Alside’s Vinyl Replacement, Specialty and Performance Series New Construction Windows, these glass package upgrades may pay for themselves in energy savings all year round, while improving the overall comfort of your home and perhaps even increasing the value of it.

In fact, they’re so energy-efficient they qualify as ENERGY STAR-qualified products.*

Alside offers many energy-efficient glass packages. All selections feature PPG’s Solarban 60 Low-E glass and a “warm edge” spacer system. Additionally, all of them feature Argon gas between the panes of glass. Argon gas is a colorless, odorless, nonflammable, nontoxic and safe inert gas. Heavier than air, the Argon gas creates an additional layer of insulation that reduces the transmittance of heat and cold, but not light.

CLIMATECH® HIGH-PERFORMANCE INSULATED GLASS PACKAGE:
ENERGY-EFFICIENCY FOR ALL SEASONS.

Alside’s exclusive ClimaTech high-performance insulated glass package is a state-of-the-art combination of three energy-efficient elements, each contributing to a superior glass unit that may help to pay for itself in energy savings through all seasons.

Solarban® 60 Low-E glass from PPG
Solarban 60 Low-E glass (low emmisivity) helps reduce energy costs in two ways. In summer, Solarban 60 helps block out long-wave radiation (direct sunlight) from the sun, keeping your home cooler. In winter, Solarban 60 helps retain furnace heat while allowing warming, short-wave solar rays to enter the home, putting less strain on your furnace to maintain a comfortable warmth.

Intercept™ Warm Edge Spacer from PPG
The Intercept Spacer System is designed to keep the edges of the window glass warmer. Even with insulating glass, if the edges are not sealed properly, the insulation of the window as a whole may be compromised. The Intercept spacer creates a “warm edge” seal for superior insulation and reduced likelihood of condensation at the edges of the window.

Insulating Argon Gas
Argon gas is a colorless, odorless, nonflammable, nontoxic, inert gas that is sealed between the two panes of glass. Heavier than air, and completely safe to humans and animals, the argon gas provides an additional layer of insulation, increasing energy-efficiency and also acting as a sound barrier to help deaden outside noise.

ClimaTech Features
* Improved winter and summer thermal comfort
* Increased heating and cooling season energy and cost savings
* Reduces peak loads for lower HVAC costs
* Helps reduce window condensation
* Helps deaden outside noise

CLIMATECH® PLUS HIGH-PERFORMANCE INSULATED GLASS PACKAGE:
SUPERIOR ENERGY SAVINGS YEAR-ROUND.

Alside’s exclusive ClimaTech Plus high-performance insulated glass package adds an additional level of high performance and energy-efficiency to our exclusive ClimaTech packages. ClimaTech Plus features the same Solarban 60 Low-E Glass and argon gas fill between the panes, but adds the technology of the SST Warm Edge Spacer System for even greater gains in thermal comfort and energy savings.

SST Warm Edge Spacer from PPG
Alside’s exclusive SST Spacer System utilizes a patented structural foam design that traps escaping heat far more efficiently than any other spacer. The result is an unparalleled level of insulation at the window seal and a far greater defense against condensation common in otherwise well-insulated, weathertight homes.

Insulating Argon Gas
Argon gas is a colorless, odorless, nonflammable, nontoxic, inert gas that is sealed between the two panes of glass. Heavier than air and completely safe to humans and animals, the argon gas provides an additional layer of insulation, increasing energy-efficiency and also acting as a sound barrier to help deaden outside noise.

ClimaTech Plus Features
* True warm edge for greater insulation at the glass edge

SOLARBAN® 60 LOW-E GLASS:
CUTTING-EDGE GLASS TECHNOLOGY FOR BETTER LIVING.

The glass contained in any of Alside’s exclusive ClimaTech® Insulated Glass Packages is a Low-E glass, and a technological breakthrough that means your Alside windows deliver unsurpassed performance and beauty. Low-E, or low-emissivity, glass is an excellent way to increase your home’s comfort and energy savings year-round.All Alside window products with any of the optional ClimaTech Insulated Glass Packages feature Solarban® 60 Low-E glass from PPG Industries™ — a world leader in advanced glass technologies.

How it works
Solarban 60 is created by applying multiple layers of microscopic, undetectable metallic coatings to the surface of a piece of flat, annealed glass. The metallic coating helps block out the solar energy in the summer, while accepting and retaining warm, short-wave solar rays in the winter.

In the summer, Low-E glass filters long-wave solar radiation – reducing solar heat gain in your home as a result of the sun’s direct rays. In the winter, Low-E glass takes on two responsibilities: first it lets warm, short-wave rays into the home for natural warmth; then the Low-E glass helps block the warm air inside, rather than allowing it to escape through the pane, so your heating system runs less to maintain a comfortable temperature.

ClimaTech and ClimaTech Plus, with Solarban 60 and an argon-filled glass unit, provide a 49% reduction in solar heat gain compared with a standard clear-glass window unit. Plus, ClimaTech and Solarban 60 glass units reduce harmful UV rays by as much as 72% compared to a clear-glass unit. This helps reduce fading in your furniture upholstery, carpeting and even curtains and drapes.

WARM EDGE SPACERS:
COMFORTABLE ROOMS START WITH WARM EDGE SPACERS.

“Warm Edge” spacer technology is designed to reduce the potential for conduction of cold air from the outdoors, through the traditional metal spacers, to the glass pane. This conduction of cold air not only reduces the efficiency of your energy use, but also creates the conditions for condensation around the glass edges, and the water damage to trim, paint, woodwork and window treatments that condensation can cause.Alside’s warm edge spacer systems are provided as an energy-efficient alternative as part of the ClimaTech® and ClimaTech Plus ®Insulated Glass Packages.

ClimaTech with PPG’s Intercept™ Spacer System
The Intercept Spacer System is a warm edge spacer featuring a unique, one-piece metal alloy with a U-Channel design that creates an effective thermal barrier to help reduce conducted heat loss through the window. The sealed, one-piece design makes Intercept spacer stronger and better at retaining insulating gas than many conventional designs.

ClimaTech Plus with Edgetech’s SST® Spacer System
The SST Spacer System features a non-metal design that eliminates cool-edge metal-to-glass construction at the glass edge. This ensures greater insulation at the glass edge – where the window traditionally insulates least effectively – and virtually eliminates condensation at the edges of the window associated with metal spacers that conduct cold air.

The SST Spacer System combines a patented structural foam spacer with a seal of hot metal butyl to create a non-conductive edge. The elimination of metal-to-glass contact makes the ClimaTech Plus glass package up to 54% more energy-efficient than ordinary insulated glass units. The non-metal edge also helps prevent seal failure by minimizing the subtle movement of glass panes within the unit.

No matter how lovely your windows are, they are never fun to clean. SunClean™ Self-Cleaning Glass by PPG actually lets you spend less time cleaning your windows – while giving you a clearer view all the time. SunClean self-cleaning technology features a durable, transparent coating that is bonded to the outer surface of the glass during the manufacturing process. The coating makes use of the sun’s ultraviolet rays and water to slowly decompose and loosen organic dirt and then rinse it away.

When ordinary windows with traditional glass get wet, the water beads up, concentrating the dirt into spots or streaks.

SunClean uses the sun’s UV rays to help break down and loosen dirt. It also causes water to spread out over the surface of the glass — not bead up. As the window begins to dry, sheeting action helps rinse dirt from the surface and speeds drying time. When it’s completely dry, the window with SunClean will have very little spotting or streaking.

You want to enjoy your home and your leisure time. So consider choosing SunClean self-cleaning glass for a clearer view – and a lot less work.

SunClean Features
* Available on all Vinyl Replacement and Specialty window models
* Uses natural sunlight and water to break down and rinse dirt away
* Noticeably cleaner windows means fewer cleaning chores
