Selecting a home improvement/remodeling company to perform work on your home can be a difficult task. But the process can be made a bit easier when you consider the firm’s certifications and affiliations.

The affiliations and certifications a home construction firm carries are a testament to its level of professionalism and expertise. The notifications speak to how well a company relates to its customers, how efficiently they complete the work and how professional they undertake the entire process. Firms lacking in certification may also lack in the professional approach and talent needed to complete the task.

Sunshine Contracting holds certifications and affiliation from numerous organizations both local and national. It is a list of affiliations that speaks to Sunshine Contracting’s professionalism and service quality.

Among the certifications and affiliations that Sunshine Contracting holds include:

  GAF Certified Weather Stopper Roofing Contractor being a certified contractor for GAF allows us to offer special warranties backed by GAF, America’s largest roofing manufacturer, that other roofing companies can’t provide you with.  We hold ourselves to GAF’s high standards and install a full roofing system on your home.  
In order to be a Shingle Master, you must emply a Master Shingle Applicator qualified workforce and participate in regular training and recertification.  Being a CertainTeed Shingle master means that we focus on superior workmanship and can offer extended warranties other roofers can’t provide. 

 

National Association Of Remodeling Industry (NARI): The NARI promotes the high standards of the industry, including honesty, responsibility and the integrity of its members.
Building Trade Association: The BTA is comprised of more than 1,000 companies throughout the home construction business and helps them obtain and maintain the services they need to provide quality service to their customers.

 American Architectural Manufacturer Association (AAMA): The AAMA provides information on performance standards and product certification for companies in the home construction profession, particularly companies that manufacture products used in remodeling, including doors, skylights, windows and other finishing products. They also administer educational programs for those in the industry.
  National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC): The NFRC is an independent rating system that seeks to provide accurate ratings for the energy performance and output of doors, windows, skylights and other related products.


 TrexPro Contractors complete installation and product training regularly and strive to always be up to speed on all Trex products.  In addition, In order to be a TrexPro Contractor, you must meet certain general liability insurance and licensing requirements.  TrexPro Contractors are a select group of experienced, talented, and dedicated professionals armed with the tools and resources to make your decking experience a great one.
 Velux is a premier manufacturer of residential skylights, sun tunnel skylights, and blinds based in South Carolina.  Sunshine Contracting partnered with Velux and completed the Velux Skylight Specialist training.  All employees and installers have been thoroughly trained and certified on how to help the customer choose the best skylight for them and their home. 

Since 1992, Progressive Foam  has been the industry’s energy conservation pioneer and manufactures Fullback, an energy efficient insulating product for any type of siding.  Sunshine Contracting is one of 150 Progressive Foam Preferred Partners in the country.  Being a Preferred Partner allows us to offer the most exclusive and top of the line warranties in the industry for siding insulation products.  In addition, Sunshine Contracting also receives regular, specialized training.
EPA Lead Certified our # is: NAT-122313-1 – In 2010, a federal law was enacted that required all renovation firms to be certified under EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule.  In addition, all installers must be trained in lead-safe work practices and be accredited by the EPA.  All homes built before 1978 must now be tested for lead when replacing any windows.  Sunshine Contracting is an EPA Lead Certified Firm.

 

National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) Member – In the roofing industry, the NRCA is considered one of the most respected trade associations.  As a member, Sunshine Contracting has access to a vast amount of literature and training sessions and tools. 
Vinyl Siding Institute Certified (VSI): The VSI represents manufacturers and suppliers in the vinyl siding industry. VSI seeks to help the industry group through addressing regulatory issues involving siding with regards to material issues, building codes and education. The organization also oversees certification programs that are aimed at improving the industry.

Insulating Glass Certification Council (IGCC): The IGCC is a non-profit organization that confers third-party certification, as well as conducts tests, on insulating glass products. The council was established by manufacturers and consumers concerned with the industry.

Energy Star is a joint program between the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Department of Energy and is geared towards protecting the environment and saving homeowners money.  The mark of an Energy Star Partner ensures to you that the products you are getting meet the Energy Star requirements and will save you money as well as help you protect the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Products that bear the Good Housekeeping seal have been found to be in accordance with their environmental criteria and protects the consumer against any failure or defects.  Good Housekeeping seeks to protect the homeowners and private enterprise and serves much like an insurance policy if any company sporting the seal were to fail.  Our GAF products carry this seal and we are very proud to say so.

Leaf Relief Certified Installer -  In order to become a certified leaf relief contractor, Sunshine Contracting took an installation and training course and subsequently passed an exam to become certified.  We are very proud of this certification and are dedicated to continuing the learning process with Leaf Relief when new products and updates arise.

 

GAF and Habitat for Humanity Community Contractor - This exclusive designation recognizes Sunshine Contacting Corporation as a Habitat for Humanity contributor, supporting our community, and helping to better the lives of our neighbors in need.

GAF Steep Slope Certified – All of our employees have been trained on and have passed the Steep Slope Pro Field Guide Test, rendering our employees Steep Slope Roofing Certified by GAF. 

Subrogation Training – All of Sunshine Contracting’s employees have taken a course, and passed an exam, on the art of insurance subrogation, in order to better aid you in all your insurance claim needs. 

James Hardie Associate Contractor - Sunshine Contracting is a member of the James Hardie Associate Contractor Program.  To be a part of this elite group, Sunshine Contracting is trained annually by James Hardie representatives to stay abreast to the latest product upgrades and changes.  Our installers are also trained on how to properly install James Hardie siding, as well as other installation best practices.  Being a part of this program ensures to you that Sunshine Contracting will provide you with the highest quality experience with your James Hardie siding and trim products.

Simonton Preferred Installer - Sunshine Contracting has completed an intense window and door training program conducted by experts at Simonton Windows.  The training included classroom instructions, hands-on training, field repair, and passing a written exam.  After passing the written exam, Sunshine Contracting is now a Simonton Preferred Installer.

 

Mule Hide Certified Warranty Provider - As a company, Sunshine Contracting is certified by manufacturer Mule-Hide Products to provide top of the line warranties to our customers when using their products, including Elastomeric Coatings, EPDM Roofing, Self-Adhering Mod Bit, and TPO roofing.  We were trained and certified by a Mule Hide representative and were given the honor of being able to provide these incredible warranties.

Therma-Tru Doors Certified Installer - Sunshine Contracting is the only Therma-Tru Certified Installer in the Northern Virginia area.  All employees and installers completed an all day training course hosted by Therma-Tru Doors in order to become a Certified Installer.  This training was both verbal and hands on – a test was provided after the training which was passed by Sunshine Contracting employees and installers.  Because we are a Certified Installer, Therma Tru can track each and every install and know that their door is being properly installed.
