Leaf Protection Can Save You Home Damage
Avoiding damage to a home, as well as eliminating the drudgery of climbing up on the roof and cleaning out gutters, can be nearly eliminated by using leaf protection in the gutter system. There are different types of leaf protection available that can help keep leaves and other debris from filling up the gutter and clogging the downspouts which can allow water to spill over the front of the gutter or leak behind the gutter.
Sunshine Contracting offers the following leaf protection systems (click on each to learn more):
Depending on the size of the gutter and the number of nearby trees that add to potential problems, the type of system needed can be determined. Simple screen covers will allow water to make its way into the gutter while keeping leaves and other debris out. Products such as the Rain Pro gutter guard sit inside the gutter, unseen from the ground and offer unobtrusive protection against the build-up of material inside the gutter system.
Keeping Leaves From Accumulating On The Screens
Other gutter guard systems such as Leaf Relief provide a flatter surface that will not catch leaves on the top side of the guard. The ventilated surface of the guard allows air to flow through them, lifting leaves away from the gutter to keep it open. Some systems actually allow the debris to accumulate on the top of the screen and while this prevents the leaves from getting into the gutter, it can form a roof over the gutter allowing water to spill over the gutter and run down the sides of the home.
Many gutter guard systems remain inside the gutter offering unseen protection to the rain dispersal system, while others like Premium Screen extend their coverage beyond the back edge of the gutter. Deeper screens are made that fit inside the front edge of the gutter with the back of the screen fitted just under the front edge of the first row of roofing shingles. Not only will this system prevent leaf build-up in the gutters it can also help keep them from being blown back under the front roof edge in event of high winds.
Take Advantage of Professional Installation by Sunshine Contracting
When considering having a gutter guard placed on the home, consider having Sunshine Contracting install it. There is more to it than simply inserting a screen on top of the gutter and if it’s not done correctly could work it way loose, especially during a storm, and defeat the purpose of the install.
